9 May

My first real post on my blog was a year ago today.  i wrote one on May 7, but it was titled, “Hello, World” and just said:

“This is my first post!  O, my.

Ok, this is a blog about me, aisha.  And Sir.  And submission – mine; the dominance is His.  But you probably already guessed that.

i am just beginning to figure out how this blog works.  Now to see if i can post a picture…”

and i meant “post a picture on the home page,” not on the daily blog post.  Pictures came later.

i wrote for a few weeks before i went public with it.  And then i didn’t get any comments for a long time.  i had begun to think i never would.  Then i realized maybe i should make some comments on OPB’s if i wanted some.

My first comment was from Sin, on July 1.  Woohoo!  i was so thrilled, you can’t even imagine.  The post was on Story of O and she said:

“Wow. i could have written this. It would have sounded exactly like your post. This is me. I found the book at the same age. It’s still in my bedside table. I read it and masturbated to it thousand times. I knew I didn’t want to be treated quite that way. But it was hard to find out, to explore, to understand what I was before the internet.”

Tipacanoe commented on July 11 – another big thrill.  The post was “MakingFriends,” and it came after FS and before Sir D.  It was one of my “i give up, i’ll never meet anyone” posts, and i had worked some brief fantasies into it.  Tipacanoe said:

“Fantasies are great until you have to try and go to sleep, yours sounds great to wake up too.”

Mick comments for the first time July 28.  As usual, he’s succinct:

“Hey…found you through Sin’s page, and added you to my blog role. very nice writing.”

i would be embarrassed to tell you how many times i went to his page to look at my name on his blogroll.  Then ‘Nilla shows up on the 29th.

i had been all excited because i was getting a few hits on my blog every day, and then i discovered how many hits Sin and Mick get.  Sin said:

“Aww Aisha, I sure didn’t mean to rain on your parade – everyone starts somewhere. And there are blogs (even sex blogs) that get zillions of hits. Mine is still pretty small.

But I am VERY flattered that you like it. Thank you. I like yours too.

Good luck with the dungeon guy.”

That was right before the weekend that i went to see Sir D in Where -He-Lived, with the dungeon in his basement.  Mick said:

“Thanks for the plug, Aiesha. Well….not that sort of plug. But you know what I mean.

We met a couple over fet ife who have a dungeon. they live across the river. had drinks with them. they moved here from California and are fully into the lifestyle. Had some drinks and talked about life in the “scene”. a first for us, though now we have this compadre M, out west that we talk to as well.

Of course, we have had some rich fantasies about being invited to visit their dungeon….maybe we need to reconnect with them.

Hope your weekend visit goes well. But the anticipation is a good chunk of the fun, isn’t it?”

And then i said:

“@Mick – LOL – yeah, i knew what you meant!

I”ve been to a couple of munches and found it interesting there just to hear people talking aobut the lifestyle. I’ve never been to a play party or anything though. Yourall’s relationship with M sounds interesting.

No doubt you’re right about anticipation being a big piece of the fun!

@sin – You didn’t rain on my parade – really! It was really helpful for me to realize how much room there is for growth, and it made me quit being all mentally whiny about not getting comments. It’s all good. :)

And thanks for sending good luck vibes…”

And here comes ‘Nilla:

Hi Aisha.

when i first started just under a year ago, i was lucky to get 5 hits a day…we all start somewhere, as sin said.

i have another sex blog i write, and i don’t openly advertise it, and that blog only gets maybe 11 hits a week. if i’m lucky. but i write first and foremost for me.

and if you keep writing this wonderfully, your numbers will continue to rise!”

So i said:

“@Nilla – Having you, sin, and mick all read and comment on my blog feels kind of like having rock stars show up in my house. I LOVE your blog too.

Thank you soooo much for the kind words of encouragment. I’m really not complaining, just delighted to be where I am right now.”

And of course ‘Nilla answered:

“i read your reply to me @ work Fri night…omg i laughed aloud! me? a rock star, eh?

kewl…tho…you know i’m not really. i am just like *you*!! We all start somewhere, right?

keep writing like this and you’re numbers will climb for certain. Hope you’re Dungeon experience is awesome….can’t wait to hear about it all!”

In some ways, i always feel like that was the real beginning of the blog.  Funny.  The sense of support i was feeling at that point, mostly thanks to Sin, suddenly expanded to become community.  And it’s grown so much since then.

{Happy sigh…}

This is my 325th post.  i’ve had over 32,000 hits, which is still absolutely nothing compared to those “rock stars,” but makes me very happy. i like to think of my blog as a “boutique blog,” not like the big conglomerate over there at UCTMW.   {laughing}

My life has changed so much, i can’t even begin to count the ways.  And if you’re reading this now, you’ve been part of that change.  i don’t want to start naming people cause that could go on for longer than i have this morning.  And i get all sentimental and misty eyed and~~

~~ really, i just want to say thanks, to each of you…

               with love,

                             aisha

Awww, I love this. I love that I was a part of making you feel like there’s a community. And there is, because we feel it. You are an important part of what has become community here.

And did I have any idea that I was first? I’m glad I was.

And I must have said this (right?) but I love your blog, your fantasies (which overlap mine), your real stuff and your common sense.

gosh…. it seems like it was way more than a year that we became blog acquaintances, Aisha. A lot of drama and adventures along the way, and surely more to come,

Congrats. Now you’re a rock star. Numbers or not, you’ve got a special knack for useful introspection. It’s a privilege to see your perspective.

    Aisha,
Happy Blog anniversary once again! 🙂

I totally understand the thrill of getting those first few comments :P. I remember who left them on mine too.

When I first started blogging, it was like a journal of sorts. I didn’t expect any response, comments, let alone followers. I don’t look at my stats page at least not often because I know it’ll be low. I don’t really care how many readers I’ve got as long as they are loyal, good people :). My blog doesn’t fit any category and I don’t blog more than a few times a month. I read and comment more on D/s blogs than I do on other blogs. But I don’t think I would have it any other way.

You’ve got a community here. 🙂 Good for you!

Here’s to another year blogging, to finding new friends and to you! 🙂

    your latest follower!

    • aisha May 9, 2011 at 9:18 pm #

Dear Alujna, Yes, I felt the same way about the blog – and I still don’t really care how many hits I get, but I wouldn’t trade the community for anything. I really enjoy your comments – thank you!! O, and I enjoy your blog too!

You just hit your one year anniversary too, didn’t you? Hope to meet you here again, same time next year…

and i failed to mention as i was short on time (and really, the moment i re-read your first comments to me, that song popped into my head!)…is how profound i find your blog, and you.

Your fantasyland is someplace i’d buy a ticket to…Oh, Disney? Have we got an idea for YOU!

    *laughs*

i found you through sin’s blog. i find OPB’s through those i read regularly. There are 2 blogs i read daily (or at least check on) and yours is one of them.

Eventually i get to everyone elses, but yours is almost a religious experience for me.

    You make me think.
    You make me laugh.
You make me so happy to have met you.

and You make me proud to say you’re my friend.

Party on, heart sister…you’re one in a million!

    love,

    nilla

      Hey, ‘Nilla,

You just overwhelm me, so many nice things to say about me, on top of everyone’s nice today – thank you so much.

Really, I don’t even know what else to say.

You already know that i read you daily, I actually get your posts via e-mail and sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and read them. You are my sister, you know that, and one of these days I’m going to meet you!

      I love you,

      aisha
