A 10 on the Happiness Scale

21 Mar

Jade wanted to know what the happiest day of my life has been… and i’ve been pondering it ever since she asked.  Well, you know, not all the time, but from time to time.

i can think of lots of joyous occasions ~ graduations, weddings, my daughter’s birth day, homecomings and reuniting, the day we got custody of my stepdaughter, fabulous sex,… i don’t know how i’d pick one as the happiest.  If i think of happiness on the 1-10 scale, with 1 being not happy at all, and 10 being the happiest i could possibly be {yes, i really think like that} then those were all 10’s.  Or 9.9’s anyhow.

And sometimes, i just look around my life ~ driving down the road, sitting at my computer, standing in the kitchen ~ and just feel happy.  i might be alone, or with family, or with Sir, but it’s an overwhelming feeling of happiness.  And that’s a 10 too.

Having to be at work at 7 a.m. does not make me so happy.  But it is what it is… each day brings its own pleasure and pain.  Who knows ~ this one could turn out to be the very happiest one!

Awesome answers. And (laughing) i think on a ten point scale too. i once called Sir and asked exactly how much something i did not want to do mattered to her on a scale of one to ten. She was absolutely incredulous and thought it was an insane question. Hmph. Makes perfect sense to me.

And…funny enough….i would have never thought to have put “great sex” on a list of happy days. But…hey…makes sense. (i do, however, rank them on a ten point scale. i like to think of it as the sexual olympics). 🙂

      Hey, Jade,

Glad the answer satisfied – and funny that we both do the 1-10 thing. I can see your Sir not getting that though – very funny.

See, i don’t rate sex on the 1-10 thing though. i don’t know why… maybe i should start… But there was this guy when i was in college, he was the first person i truly lusted after, and sometimes we’d just spend a day in bed… o, my.

    Dear Aisha,

O is very fond of saying, “carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero.”

Seize the day, place as little trust as possible in the future.

Sometimes happiness just happens, we take it, holding on tightly.

      Dear Mouse,

i love that! i was raised with “carpe diem,” but not the rest of it. How perfect.

And yeah. Happiness is a gift, to be treasured and appreciated, savored and remembered.
