15 Apr

He drove.

Yes, it is my car.  But He says, “I’m afraid I’ll distract you, make you nervous.  I’ll drive.”

i think it’s a nice way of saying He doesn’t trust my driving ~ that my driving makes Him nervous ~ so i agree, and hand over the key.

Could i have disagreed?  Is this part of submission?  i don’t know.  {shrug}  In my experience, men like to drive.

And sooner or later they get tired of driving and i take over.  So He drives there, and i drive home.  🙂  That works for me.

At breakfast, He points out that when He’s hungry, He’s a little grumpy.  i say, “That’s important information!   i’ll have to make sure i keep you from getting hungry.”

He grins.  “That could be your Number One rule,” He says.

It’s an uneventful trip.  A long drive for a brief occasion, but very worth it.

We get there early and spend some time driving around, admiring the architecture of houses and churches.  It’s amazing.  If it hadn’t been pouring rain all day, we could have walked around and really admired it.

i have to use my Yelp app on my phone to find us a local coffee shop, but the coffee was fabulous.  Might have been the best sugar-free hazelnut latte with skim milk that i’ve ever had.

Anyhow.  We’re still a little bit early, but we decide to go ahead and park.  So we drive {back} to the place.  And there are hardly any cars in the lot.

Sir looks at me.

“We are in the right place?” He says.

“Yes, Sir,” i say, but i’m feeling a little anxious.

“And it’s today?  This is the right day?”

Pure panic.  Omg, omg, omg.  What if ~ what if ~ nooooooo, i couldn’t have ~ omg.

i can’t get my phone out fast enough, my heart is racing.  We’ve driven three hours, spent the night in a motel, and now ~ what if, omg…

Facebook ~ facebook ~ it’s an event on facebook ~ i can find it, let me see, let me see ~~

O!! YES!!  It says “Today.”  Right there.  “Today.”

And then other people start arriving, and all is well.  But it was a moment.

      i know, it’s chilling, isn’t it?

  2. monkey April 15, 2012 at 10:50 am #

Oh that horrible flood of doubt, that comes right after someone else says, “Are you sure?”.You were sure until that moment, and then poof, it’s gone.

Put me in the identify bucket with Abby.

    • aisha April 17, 2012 at 5:16 am #

Yep, freaked me out totally for that moment. i’m still grateful that it wasn’t the wrong day.

    I check
    and double check

I’m the girl who believes her passport will fall out of her purse
so she checks it so often
that it’s possible that the checking process has made it get lost
    so I check some more

and I would have had the same reaction

sounds like you guys had/are having a nice trip
    because you are together

    • aisha April 17, 2012 at 5:18 am #

Funny. i’m pretty cautious that way too, which then makes it that much worse if i am wrong.

And yeah. It was nice being together. 🙂

  4. vanillamom April 15, 2012 at 11:15 am #

I would do that too…that moment of panic-stricken doubt? Oh yeah. I’m a super-uber planner, and still I’d panic…and check!

Glad you had fun…keep that Sir of yours fed! LOL

    • aisha April 17, 2012 at 5:19 am #

      Yep. Adrenaline pumping like mad.

And yes ~ since that’s my number one rule, to keep Him fed, for sure i won’t drop the ball!

  5. Amaia April 15, 2012 at 7:25 pm #

What a trip that must of been!! I’m glad you were right about the day.. or else I think your story would of had a very different ending! ❤

    • aisha April 17, 2012 at 5:20 am #

Thanks ~ i can’t even imagine how it would have ended if i’d been wrong. {shudder} Too horrible to contemplate…

  6. mouse April 16, 2012 at 1:01 am #

Having suffered the serious humiliation of showing up to something on the totally wrong day…Omega always double checks. Ya, mouse’s disorganization is legendary…and it’s probably the one thing he finds the least attractive.

We almost always take his car and he always drives…

    • aisha April 17, 2012 at 5:25 am #

Yeah, i could have guessed that about the car and Omega. 🙂 But it’s hard for me to imagine you truly disorganized… you manage so much so well.

      • mouse April 17, 2012 at 11:17 am #

So glad Omega didn’t see that…he’d be on the floor laughing. Of course, let’s be honest we affectionately call him “travel nazi” anytime he goes anywhere he spends weeks or even months researching the place, studying maps and everything else he can find.

He will email links to places to eat and places of interest…

It sounds terrible, but after the 100th email, mouse isn’t all that interested anymore. He’ll spend the whole flight over talking to mouse about “plans” and how we’ll execute each day….

On the way back from the trip…he will begin talking about the NEXT trip…

        Seriously it’s endless…

So ya, compared to him mouse is a disorganized mess….LMAO.

Oh and when we go away this year…..we’re allowed ONE carryon bag ONLY!

Seriously, mouse sees many hours of packing lessons in her future….

      • aisha April 19, 2012 at 5:37 am #

So, i don’t know how to tell you this, mouse, but Omega’s travel planning sounds pretty cool to me. i don’t have the energy/enthusiasm to do a whole lot of research on where i’m going, so i’m glad when someone else does it for me. My sister does that when we travel together, and it looks like Dee will too, so that’s all good!

But i would get tired too after the 100th email. {nodding.} No doubt.

Now the ONE carry on bag idea totally freaks me out. i prefer to travel by car so i can pack half my shoes in the trunk, and bring books and God knows what else. i am not a light packer. My mother was, and my sister is, i just don’t see the frigging benefit of it. lol

      • vanillamom April 19, 2012 at 7:47 am #

        *rolling on the floor laughing*

I am so so so like Omega. I spent 4 hours yesterday finalizing paper for the family vacation…including an itinerary for the days we are there, flight info, directions to where we are staying, a cost analysis, a list of the places we want to see, ….anal much, nilla?
However…now that everything is in the folder, (complete with tabs, btw)…i am feeling much more relaxed about the whole thing.

    • mouse April 19, 2012 at 12:08 pm #

@ nilla….OMG O has the same thing going on…tabs and all…each child and adult outlined…Seriously…He’s still researching eating establishments and such but is printing out sheets. Oh and he’s made printouts for each person going complete with maps….yanno, to read while on the plane.

@ aisha…YES one carryon bag per person. PERIOD (he refuses to deal with checked baggage that may or may not make it to the destination) and we’ll be gone for (coughs) roughly three weeks! Really?! Oh and he actually questioned if the baby will NEED a carryon at all? OMG! Because yanno her clothes are really small…they could easily fit into other bags…Now mouse did rather put her foot (gently) down and explain that is not negotiable…

      • vanillamom April 19, 2012 at 1:59 pm #

@ mouse…6 of us going, ONE carry on each (going to a warm place = smaller clothing) AND there is a washer/dryer so I can do laundry as needed. OMG. I have lists for people, too. *laughing* I’m so fucking anal.

(and, no longer alone in it!! Waves to Omega!)

      • sin April 19, 2012 at 9:30 pm #

I’m with Aisha, I want to go in the car so I don’t have to make shoe choices. If I go for longer than a weekend I want to take a full size suitcase. And then I keep throwing stuff in til it’s full.

I can’t imagine deciding only to take a carry on for each person, esp for a baby. For 3 weeks??? That’s crazy. I’m just sayin.

And Nilla, when is your vacation? I think it’s in 6 months? And you know what you’re taking already? That’s kind of … a little too organize don’t you think?

      • mouse April 20, 2012 at 2:35 pm #

@ sin — well we can really fit a lot of clothes into one carryon for the baby. Diapers, he’s already worked out can be purchased when we arrive (he’s already mapped it out). Can still carry the diaper bag onto the plane (since we’re allowed one carryon and small bag into the cabin). So we’ll have plenty of diapers…and other stuff…

And we’ve already started packing…organizing the carryon goo (shampoos, etc).

So really it’s not that bad…eh..LOL

      • vanillamom April 23, 2012 at 9:51 am #

We’re not bringing any of that stuff…i figure there are Walgreens everywhere, pretty much, and stores, so we can get travel sized things once we arrive. 🙂

if you have things like lotions etc? They have to be less than 4 oz AND all put in a ziplock clear quart bag. (or they pull you out of line to go through everything…this I learned first-hand while going to visit aisha…I didn’t have lotions, but I had my makeup (powders, all of it, so i thought it was exempt–its not)

      • mouse April 23, 2012 at 11:35 am #

Wait…they plugged you for powder? When we traveled, last year mouse uses mineral makeup, they could have cared less and the makeup remover she uses is powdered too. In fact they didn’t even ask to see it. It was just in the top of her bag, so they could have asked..yanno? They could tell when they x-rayed it that wasn’t liquid.

Mascara did need to be put into the goo bag, because it’s kinda liquid…weird…Along with toothpaste..

But ya, the 4oz thing is soooo stupid, sunblock and crap like that can be bought when we arrive, because mouse isn’t giving up her shampoo and conditioner…LOL. Also, just a bit of body spray stuff mouse likes (Omega thoroughly rolled his eyes at that). If she’s careful it will last the trip.

They did however open the bag because there was cigarette lighter in bottom of her bag…LOL. Fortunately it was the type that was allowed on the plane, but mouse was told it needed to be put into the ‘goo’ bag.

Really, travel is such a pain in the ass now-a-days.

      • aisha April 23, 2012 at 7:20 pm #

Lol – i can’t believe you and ‘Nilla are using my kinky sex blog to trade travel tips! You two…. good grief!

      • vanillamom April 23, 2012 at 9:26 pm #

sex blog and travel tips…sounds like a match to me!!

  7. sin April 16, 2012 at 7:31 am #

being early, being late, we are so busy we are bound to get things wrong occaisionally. My worst one was getting my kid to summer camp a full day late.

    • aisha April 17, 2012 at 5:26 am #

O, my, that must have been painful! i was just grateful that i wasn’t wrong this time!
