Thank you all so much for the wonderful response to my post yesterday.

Last night, Sir and i went out for dinner.  i told Him about my secret anxiety, and we talked a little bit about it then, and a little more this morning.

He said, “All the paths you’ve been down, they brought you to me.   So everything has happened exactly as it needed to.  Just like all the paths I’ve been down, brought me to you.  It is all as it should be.”

And of course that’s right.

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”

This quote is so true. It’s a lesson I am relearning recently.

That’s cool, Sin, i’m glad it resonated with you.

    Hi aisha,
I love what your Sir said about the paths that brought you two together.
Your quote made me think about the fact that the older I get the more I come to realise that leaning is not always about avoiding painful experiences, but being more receptive to what they can teach us.

      Hi, Alice,

Isn’t that the truth ~ being receptive to whatever the feeling is rather than trying to avoid it is so powerful.

      Thank you.

And I don’t know about you, but when I look at my past as the path that brought me to the present, it makes it all much more OK…

      Hey, Jz,

Yeah, it sure does! Glad that works for you too.

That is very similar to something H said in his speech at our wedding – sounds like a good guy.

Spot on! Love the quote too. Reminds me of what I try to do when I get something new or pretty. Use it! Wear it! Love it! Share it! Otherwise, we haven’t gotten it for us, but for some grandchild or great grandchild who will find it in a drawer wrapped in tissue paper.

      Hi, Wordwytch,

Good point ~ there’s not much point in leaving those treasures stored away. Thanks for the reminder!

You’re welcome. 🙂 I work on that reminder every day.

    oh – just lovely
and really — can you imagine in the past being able to talk so openly about your concerns without fear or rejection

perhaps that’s part of what will make this work

    much love to you both

      Hi, Sfp,

O, good point, about being able to talk to him without fear. Yeah, that’s really, really true.

      Thanks, Sis.

LOVE the quote and it is really something that I need to remember. And for some reason it reminds me of a line from a song I like “love isn’t love, til you give it away”
