If the Buddha…

1 Jul

“We have no fixed self – every aspect of our being is in constant motion. From health to jobs, to interests to friendships, to sexual desire to the weather – everything is constantly decaying, regenerating, and in flux… Life is a river of loss, change, and rebirth.
~~ Charlotte Kasl, PhD, If the Buddha Married

Thank you, Andi, for recommending that book.  i’m still reading it ~ taking it slowly and savoring it.  It is an awesome book

Sir is reading it too, which makes it double or triple the pleasure, since we can talk about it and agree on how it can apply to us.  i’ve never really had that in a relationship before ~ someone who really wanted to learn and apply what we learned.

It’s kinda magical.

Anyhow.  Just wanted to share that here.  Slept til 8:00 this morning.  Yikes!  What a treat.

Hope your day is as delightful as mine is.

Wolf and I slept in today too. 10am! By then it was just too hot to sleep or play any longer. sigh… Reading together is one pleasure that we enjoy. Fiction, non-fiction, it doesn’t matter. The best part though is the fact that we can discuss and share the book.

    Have a great day!

      Hi, Wordwytch,

Glad youall had some “down” time to enjoy too.

How cool that you all do this reading together thing often. Very neat!

Downtime is a good thing. 🙂

The reading thing started about 6 years ago when our car broke down. We were waiting. Wolf was fidgeting and I was trying to read my book. I laughed at a bit, and he said “What?”. I tried to explain and realized that there was just too much backstory at that point. So, I started the book over and a tradition was born.

I read while he drives too when we are on a long trip. It makes the road go faster. 🙂

Interesting – I don’t think I’ve ever had my man read the same book as me at the same time. Hmmm… certainly not as a matter of course. Could be fun though.

      Hi, Sin,

Well, so far it’s fun. It’s the kind of book you can meander through and put some thought into each part, so that makes it easier to do together.

Thanks, Andi ~ yes, it really does. And you know, Sir is already Buddhist, and the more i learn about Buddhism, the more i realize that for real i’m at least as much Buddhist as Christian, so some of it we can read and say, “O, yeah. We do that1”

      Thank you, very much!!
