Cookies

16 Nov
Last year, we did a cookie exchange.  Well, not an actual cookie exchange, we traded recipes.  i don’t know why i got all excited about it, but i did, and submitted a kind of sad little cookie recipe, which was kindly accepted, and even made to feel welcome.

You know, baking,  or domestic just-about-anything, is not generally my strong suit.  But  the Great Online Cookie Exchange Extravaganza is amazing.

Jz
 is our illustrious organizer.   We send her the recipes, and post them on our own blogs too.  She posts a list of the participating blogs too.

Last year there were 22 of us.   This year we hope to make it even bigger, so ~  you’re invited to play!

The exchange is December 7.  But if you want to be included on the list,  email Jz by Dec. 5th.  That gives her time to set up the list and get it out to people by the evening of Dec 6th to post on our own blogs.

Jz says:  “That’s the reason for the deadline but an added bonus will be that, (drumroll please…) people will then receive an invite to join the newly-created, highly-yummy, bakers-only private blog, “The Great Online Cookie Exchange Extravaganza”

There, you will find all of last year’s recipes in once place (indexed for easy reference) and after the holidays, Jz will add this year’s as well.

So start baking.  Include pictures of your cookies if you want.

i would write more, but i’m all worn out from yesterday ~ my on call stuff kept me out late, and then there was the thrill of discovering i made the Top 100 Sex Bloggers List, and i HAD TO post about that before i went to bed.

{‘Nilla and Sin are there too – yay!  And lots of other people we know, and a bunch more that i don’t know… so i can look forward to getting to know them!}

Anyhow – then tonight Sir X will be here, so i have some prep work to do, so more blogging will have to wait…. real life is calling my name.  {smiling…}

P.S.  My line spacing is messed up today too.  Sorry.

    Since I’m not much for cookies, I may have to do a risotto recipe exchange instead. Mick

      Ohhh, I LOVE risotto. I don’t have a recipe to exchange though.

      Great idea, Mick!! Do we have to have a risotto recipe to exchange, or will you just jump into the cookie exchange with your risotto? aisha

    Congrats on making the list!

    And thanks for helping to spread the cookie (cake, pie, goodie, risotto…) word!

    Aisha, I went back to look at your cookie post from last year (inspired by surprise at your negative self talk?)- and I have to say that it’s a perfect recipe for a busy mom with kids. Not everyone bakes. But some of us like to belong even if it’s not our best event. Just for this, I vow to make those cookies with my kids this year. So there.

    I love baking, hate “cooking”, but love anything with sugar and butter and … mmmm. But then I want to eat it all

      Dear Sin,

      That’s so cool – you’re right, back in the day, it was fun to make them with the kids. My girls used to like to beat on the candy to break it up. i think that was their favorite part of those cookies..

      I hope yours turn out well! And thanks for the support. 🙂

    How can it be cookie time already? And yet…i know soon i will be making my multitudious dozens of cookies…

    last year, somewhere around 60 dozen, made, decorated, and delivered within 48 hours (that was a new nilla record, btw!)

    Not next week, to be sure. but the following week, my kitchen will once more be transformed into a cookie workshop, and the kids will help decorate them and it will be a good time…

    and i’m thinking i should go make dough…cchip dough freezes very well, and you can make them up, freeze them in little balls (best kitchen gadget EVER??? cookie scoops in two sizes…makes perfect sized cookies, wonderfully fast!)…anyway…freeze the dough balls and then when you have time or need to bake, you take them out of the freezer, plop ’em on the cookie sheet, and bake. Add 1 minute (maybe two) to the baking time coz they are frozen…but this saves me tons of time to make these ahead.

    i will try your recipe too but i will (go ahead, hit me) make my dough coz i’m a dough snob and my kids hate the taste of the store-tube stuff (although i must admit, i was raised with it and still love it!!)

    And here i am, writing a blogpost on YOUR blog! go figure…*laughing*

      Dear ‘Nilla,

      Good grief, you are such an earth mother…? i love that. 🙂

      60 dozen cookies??? 60??? i can’t begin to imagine. Back in my peak cookie making days, we did maybe, mmmm, 10 or 12 dozen…

      AND i love that you’re sharing cookie making tips in my comments! laughing… that’s great. As for making your own cookie dough, I would totally have predicted that. ‘Nilla, you make your own BREAD. How are you gonna use store bought cookie dough?

      {shakes head} Not happening. i knew that.

      And you can write a blogpost on my blog comments any time you want as long as it doesn’t involve jail. Or prison. Or guards. Or police officers. Or….

      Well you get the point. {laughing…}
